       Obtaining an Accurate Value..

It is critical you choose the right dealer when market considerations are at hand  for obtaining the best possible result.

Richard Plumly has 32+ years experience buying & selling works by Julian Onderdonk and a lifetime of exposure through the family collection that hung at the family ranch in the Texas Hill Country near Camp Verde, Texas. We were successful in building one of the largest and most important Onderdonk collections anywhere which many are illustrated and mentioned in the book at the bottom of this page.

Every artist has his/her own characteristics and best periods. It is imperative you have a dealer with the expertise to determine the correct value based on many factors. Richard Plumly was born in San Antonio, Texas where Julian Onderdonk lived and Richard has lived in the Texas Hill Country where Onderdonk painted. Knowledge of location can have an uptick to the value that collectors love. Other value factors are subject, condition, size, quality as compared to others, composition, when it was painted and if a Spring Bluebonnet, Cactus or other subject and location and time of year. Many of his New York paintings are wrongfully credited as being Texas subjects as there are similarities yet a big difference to a trained eye.
