Hale Bolton (1879-1920)
was born in Fredericks, Iowa in 1879. At
the age of 17 he and his family moved to Honey Grove, Texas and soon
thereafter was taking art lessons from Frank Reaugh. He later
studied at the St. Louis School of Fine Arts.
He painted in oils and pastels and specialized in Texas and
Southwest subjects and lived and painted in California in 1916. He
was one of the few who toured with Frank Reaugh in West Texas on one
of Reaugh's caravans.
Hale Bolton won
numerous awards and exhibited at the Annual Texas Artists
Exhibition, Fort Worth; Dallas Woman's Forum; State Fair of Texas,
Dallas and others. |
