F. L "Doc" Spellmon
  (1925-2008) San Antonio, Texas



     A descendent of the legendary Rand Family of East Texas, Fronzell Lincoln Spellmon was born on February 12, 1925 in Jefferson, Texas and was the son of Reverend James W. & Janie Spellmon.

     Spellmon a graduate of Bishop College in Marshall, Texas receive a Bachelor's of Science as well as a Bachelor's of Arts Degree. He got his Masters Degree in Illustration from the Kansas City Art Institute. He went on to become a teacher in the Caddo Parish School System.

     In 1963 the Spellmon's moved to San Antonio, Texas. Still having a drive towards educational excellence, he received another degree from the University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio. He served as an apprentice leader for the Arts students at St. Mary's University.

     Doc served as a trail blazer in the San Antonio Black Art community and Art community as a whole. He was also a member of the Blue Star Art Society. The painted many murals around the State of Texas
