     John Eliot Jenkins was born in Kansas.

     He moved to Paris, France and studied at the Julian & Colorosi Academies from 1888 to 1892. There he studied under Jules-Joseph Lefebvre, Jean-Joseph Benjamin Constant and Claude Monet.

     Jenkins moved to Austin, Texas around 1908. He also painted in Arkansas, Kansas, Amarillo and Houston, Texas.
